Okeydokey - just a quick update, cos I’m keeping an eye on the pharmacists over the road…
I went to the dentists yesterday lunchtime, to have my teeth looked at (obviously) and I discovered some good & some bad news. Good news first – the tooth looks fine and I don’t need an operation to remove it. Hallelujah! Bad news is that I’ve got an infection that has to be treated with antibiotics – and the antibiotic of choice is the one that they give to alcoholics as you cant drink on it. At all – at least not without it inducing severe nausea. So I’ve got a 2-week course of tablets (explaining why I’m watching the pharmacists), followed by a few days of enforced sobriety, waiting for the drug residues to leave my system, so that’s 3 weeks I’ll have to endure without a drink!
Personally, I think that’s really convenient as I had promised myself 4 weeks of no alcohol after Easter Monday (and I’m working on a week already). On the other hand, the tablets are going to mean that even the smell of alcohol is going to induce nausea – Carole once had them & she ate some over-ripe cherries and was confined to bed for days with terrible stomach ache, so I might have to turn up to Pauls party, collar some unfortunate wretch and get them to test the punch whilst I re-mix according to their taste-buds directions...
I also now find myself as a committee member of the Leeds BSAC scuba club – though my first act as a committee member was to raise the weekly pool fees from £1.50 to £2.00. Damn financial obligations! Carole & I opted to undertake the Social Secretary role, so we’re going to be trying to throw 4 or 5 large bashes in the coming year to get some more people into the club. Incidentally, I am now obliged to point out that its great fun and we’re at the Leeds international pool from “about 7pm” and we can arrange try-dives, if people are interested.
So, if anyone *would* like to have a go – drop me or C a line...
Pharmacists now open! Bye!
