Oct. 3rd, 2005 08:12 amMonday morning... after quarter end. Blissful silence in the office; mainly caused by the fact that there's no-one else in the office. Which might be explained by the 11pm finishes.
Though their absence will probably end at 9am, when the "post quarter end review" kicks in. (We've generated the information, now we have to explain it). Sounds as though its going to be as fun as it possibly could be. Watch this space for details...
In other news its been a weekend of major improvements in my life: Carole has turned up (YAY!), I got the TV & telephone fully functional (I either critted my "translate Dutch" skill, or my "pound through every single combination of settings possible" skill) & I've got a dial-up internet connection sorted too (but its sloooooow). Oddly, I can recieve emails, but I cant send them (cept through my webmail account) - so I suspect some setting somewhere, but as the internet & email set-up *was* done by picking words out of the Dutch handbook, making educated guesses & comparing the Dutch words to German words, I'm not going to complain!
What else? Oh yes, thanks to the threat of Carole turning up, the house has been cleaned to within an inch of its life; boxes moved & unpacked, furnishings rearranged into their correct place etc so the place is at least presentable - though it took all day Saturday for me to complete the bookcases on my own. Also, C & I moved the (incredibly heavy) wardrobe upstairs and got it sort of finished (we've got a wrong piece, so it can't be quite completed *just* yet), so the house is now "almost tidy". The spare room is still awash with boxes - but we're aiming to get that room done probably by next Sunday (cos C needs a home office to be set up for her, necessitating further moving of furnishings).
Today C went off to her office near Schipol (poor thing), but she can work from home for the next day or so, and we're starting to establish patterns in "what to do" and "where things live" around the house / city.
In all, "we're getting there" probably describes it all.
