Well, thats another monday that'll never bother me again...
Though its certainly had its share of "stuff"; first off, I recieved a letter from Natwest, asking for me to either make a repayment on my outstanding creditcard amount, or they would issue me a default notice - something that stays on my permanent record. Now I phoned up the people there and told them that this was sorted out and the lady I spoke to was very reassuring - confirming that it had, indeed been sorted out & I can ignore the vaguely threatining letter.
But I dont trust them. I've been trying to sort this out for about 3 months now, and its gone wrong at *every* stage; from the 3 times I've tried to set up a direct debit with them, to the time that I was reassured that it was a credit card with a special introductory repayment holiday for 6 months, to the time that they told me that it would take me several months to the recieve my payments (4 months to take money from Amsterdam!), its been one thing after another. So I'm going to close my account. In March, when the payment is finally cleared off my credit card. And I recommend to you all that you stay clear of Natwest Credit Cards, because they're nothing but trouble. The bank account service, in fairness, has actually been rather good (though their on-line services are a bit poor), but the credit card services are unresponsive and generally uninterested in what your situation it - there also seems to be no connection between the relatively good counter service in the branch & the people dealing with your credit card. Its as though they worked for different organisations, so "dont bother with Natwest creditcards" I say unto thee!
Aside from that, I've just completed tonights installment of Dutch, on the on-line course. From the perspective of pure vocabulary, its very useful, but it blows goats when it comes to context, especially if you're doing it cold. Todays annoying quirk was to present me with a picture of a picture of a man with his head in his hands, whilst the computer read out a sentence to me, but I cant tell what it *means*. Is he holding his head in his hands because sad? Because he's praying? Because hes tired? I cant tell what the context is and it really drives me around the twist when it does this! Moreover, I cant remember what the voice says when I'm trying to work out the context! And to make matters EVEN WORSE, Carole memorises them instantly & gets bewildered when I look at the same thing several times over and I still cant get it! Shes even taken to shouting out the answers to them whilst I'm trying to work it out! Talk about frustrating! (though shes not done that for a while now, cos I tend to repeat sentences of my own at her afterwards. Usually "FU/CK OFF!" and "YOU'RE NOT HELPING, YOU KNOW")
Speaking of learning, Caroles perverse cat-torture is continuing. SHe has now got to the point where she has trained Lyra to actively like being put in a harness and being lead around the house on a lead. I mean, how "un-cat" is this? Is it just me, or has she finally completely cracked?
Aside from that, things are going well though. I mean, lets face it, I'm complaining about my wife being smarter than me (which she is, so thats not exactly a newsflash), the fact that the bank is trying to screw me over for money (again, where is the surprise here?), and the fact that my cat is being converted into a dog by repeated training. Its the last one that is the most concerning though.
