Midweek Insomnia
Dec. 21st, 2005 10:59 am(Am I the only one to notice that the sign-in screen seems to have got boll0xed up somehow? I had real problems signing in, cos the sign-in box seems to have gone & hidden itself…)
I feel as though I didn’t sleep last night. I went to bed at 10pm, cos I was exhausted and I apparently dozed off – but I was awake from “about 11:30” to “about 12:30”, from “about 1:30” to “about 3:30”, from “about 4:30” to “5:30”. So, when C’s alarm went off at 7am, I just couldn’t get out of bed. So I slept until about “9am” which meant that I dragged my sorry shell into the office for 9:45 (late, but not ‘bad’ especially since I did a 12 hour stretch yesterday. If someone had had a go at me for my tardiness, they would have got some fairly curt responses from me). Anyway, by my count, I had about 6 hours of sleep, so I know that I’m not going to die – but I feel as though I might!
Sadly, tomorrow I’ve got a very early start, cos I’ve got the month-end early-morning-actual-figures processing shenanigans to get through. It should be ok, but I suspect a late night tonight, as I’ve not yet got the budget figures, cos the department that generates them went to a Christmas party last night – and it normally takes me a day to upload the info. Fun.
On the plus side, 6 of the 10 start-up files are ready to be sent out for BNW & 2 others nearly ready, so I should be able to send them out by end of the year, as planned (generated over the last few days - not last night in a fit of insomnia). All that’s left to be done is to complete the files, make sure that they’re not riddled with inconsistencies, set up an email account dedicated to BNW gubbins & then let the game commence at the start of January.
And (in a fit of insomnia) I got to finish Neuromancer last night -not having read it since I left Manchester university I couldn’t remember large sections of the story (including its end) but the style and theme and in-your-face futurism (for want of a better description) was as good and as fresh as I remember it being.
Lastly, Jon, I’d appreciate it if you could contact me off list. I need to ask you about passports & suchlike. Essentially I need a sponsor to say “yes, I recognise this person, hes not a terrorist” and I was rather hoping that I could ask you to do this for me.
