Error! Redo from start.
Jan. 20th, 2006 09:10 amWell then. Fridays update.
The only pertinent news I have is that Carole came back last night, so I (naturally) ran around like a lunatic, cleaning up the debris from the 3 previous nights of slothful PS2 playing / BNW diploming / removing clothes & crumbs that had been dropped. At the end of it, the house looked pretty good, if I do say so myself.
Then I decided to cook for Carole. For those of you who know, cooking is not one of my strengths; as evidence, I will faithfully relate to you what I did yesterday. I took a chicken breast, diced & fried it, adding some onions & frying them too. I then added a tiny amount of pesto, a tiny amount of garlic and then some mushrooms.
It was inedible. In fact, it was intolerable – the stench of it was something else entirely. It had a fairly pleasant, yet all pervading smell reminiscent of pesto, and an utterly rank after-smell. On coming home, C took one sniff of it and it went straight into the bin & then we had peanut sandwiches. During the eating, I was then subjected to some quite intense questioning about what I had done & what never to do in the future – and the really frustrating thing is that… she could find nothing wrong. I wouldn’t mind so much, if I had deliberately set out to make something that dogs would run from, or had some idea where I had gone wrong.
Anyway. My birthday weekend starts tonight at 6pm; current amongst my plans is a trip to one of these Amsterdam Cafes I’ve heard so much about. I guess the coffee must be really good there…
