Ok then,
After much discussion with C last night about the whole Dutch language situation, we’ve decided that I’m going to take a break from formal taught courses. The course options I have are either to go on a 6-week course, twice a week, or once a week for 12 weeks, repeating the same stuff. Neither of these really appeal, the courses are not going to be helpful (ie they’re not remediable in that they simply ‘teach everything, again’). Also, following the last few weeks, I’m exhausted.
So what I’m going to do instead is take a break from it. No formal language course until September, but in the meantime C is going to try & teach me, whilst I continue (after a short break) to work on it at my own pace. The intention is that, come September, I’m going to take & pass the intake exam for level 2, and I think that I should be able to make this. I know that I’m relatively close and a few weeks of bashing at it with C’s help should solve the problems.
As to the CPD, well, that’s a tricky one. I need to get 41 units (hours) of successful courses under my belt by the end of the year and the language course would have gone some significant way forward to this. However, there are other options including (should a disaster strike) flying back to Leeds, paying the Financial Training Company (the people who trained me) a large amount of money & then me doing their CPD courses. Not ideal, but there we go. I am also hoping that I can get hold of some other in-house & IT courses that are formally taught, to get me through the CPD requirement. I’m not going to pin my hopes on a language course, but it all depends on how they go.
C, on the other hand, is much more happy today as she took & passed her end-of course exams, and also an additional assessment test, meaning that, not only has she successfully passed her course, shes also skipped the next level or so and has gone directly to Intermediate level.
