Good times
May. 15th, 2006 12:10 pmSince last report, things have been rather good:
- Weight. Down 1kg to 84kg. Well, I’ve undone the damage of Owens wedding & I’m now back where I was about 6 months ago. Its still frustrating that I don’t seem to be able to get below this point, but the first stage of loosing weight is to stay stable. And I’ve done more than that, in that I’m on a slow reduction trend over the last week or so, so ‘good’.
- We’ve finally got someone signed up for the house in Leeds, which is a big weight off my mind. Ok, its not 100% completely completed yet in that they’ve got to make the credit check, criminal records check & pay the deposit, but the fact that we’ve managed to get this far with it all (for the first time, as I’ve never used the agency before) is definitely a good sign.
- Sleep. I slept for close on to 9 hours last night since I wrote, which has cleared up most of my symptoms. Yes, I had to resort to pharmaceutical assistance to get this, but I don’t think having one tablet every 4 months is that much of a problem. I’m going to keep an eye on it though, just in case.
- When I woke up this morning, I came downstairs to find that Carole had cooked fresh croissants for me & brewed a pot of coffee! It was a wonderful surprise and very pleasant indeed! A BIG hug to C for that.
- The Dr Who backlog has now been cleared. Many thanks to Mr Albrecht for this. Its good to see Dr Who returning to its traditional role of ‘scaring 7 year-olds to behind the sofa’, whilst still being enjoyable for adults to watch. My personal favourite of the series so far has been the girlfriend / ex-girlfriend spat between Rose & Sarah-Jane, which I thought was very tightly written & nicely acted.
- Running. Manage to run (an estimated) 1.7km with no breaks. Ok, its not the 2km I wanted to do, but 2km is now definitely in the realm of the possible, and the thought of trying it doesn’t have me rolling around on the floor in laughter.
- Book (Across Realtime) finished & now on the ‘2006 shelf of books that have been read’. I’m on track to read my plan of ‘a shelfs worth of books’ this year. Next on the list is one of the following: “General Chang-Kai Chek & the China he lost”, finishing off ‘Observing the English’ (which got very repetitive & dry after the first 100 pages) or finishing off Clauswitz’s ‘On War’ which I’ve been threatening myself with for a while now. Decisions decisions. (though I doubt my spelling should be trusted, in any of the above)
- Shopping cleaning & general sorting done.
Overall, I rate the last 24 hours as a B+ as I didn’t do my shirts, hurt (both) of my ankles in a bike shop (both being cracked into the same sharp edge within 30 seconds of each other), didn’t get my new bike saddle & also didn’t do Sundays run. Or write the BNW returns. Aside from that, ‘good’.
