Settling back into work, but I suspect that I could have timed this better - coming back to month-end is arguably not the most suitable of arrangements, especially as I was confronted with several emails asking 'who is his replacement now that he's not here! This is URGENT', which have been festering away for several days...
On the other hand, I'm pleased to confirm that I've booked my flights to the UK! I will be back over on the evening of Friday the 18th August, and will have to return on the evening of Sunday the 20th. I do hope that Mavis & Grampus still have space, as per our previous conversations (several weeks back, I admit, but even so...) and, despite the fact that C cannot make it, I'm looking forward to it.
The plan is to wander over to Mavis's on Friday night & do 'stuff'(beer & boardgames with any luck), followed by going into Leeds on Saturday to do 'more stuff' (shopping, wandering around, looking at the corn exchange, shouting at the bank etc who have taken 2 loads of home insurance from us when they shouldn't & drinking Starbucks coffee - which you cant get over here, Dutch coffee is invariably bitter & they sneer at you if you want milk in it) and thence over the Matt & Zoes in the afternoon / evening to do 'even more stuff' (probably a DVD, pizza & glass of wine) - but I will have to revise the plan to include 'shopping' at one of your local supermarkets as its my intention to take 2 cases over so I can buy significant amounts of local speciality produce. I hear that Salmonella Chocolate is quite the hit nowadays?

Anyway, I was VERY tempted to take the early morning Monday flight back to Amsterdam, but decided against it in the end; it would have been too early a start for me, and I'd like the chance to get ready back here beneath sea-level before I return to bedlam-that-is-work. All I need to do now is make a shopping list.
