After much debate & to-ing & fro-ing, I’ve come to a decision about the Dutch course: "stick with it, but not give a damn" - its just not important enough to worry about. If I don’t make it, then *shrug* I don’t make it.
Essentially, the teacher was a lot better than I feared, and on talking to her, she said that it was meant to be “fun” (that word again. Hm.), and, if I miss lessons or don’t do the homework etc then that’s ok. The other thing that I’m aware of is that the Dutch is not as important as it was earlier this year – I’ve got my CPD hours done (pretty much), so its not crucial that I have to pass this course – if anything, it’s an early taster for the course I have to pass next year.
I still think that it’s a waste of my time as I doubt that any of it is going in, but this way I get some exposure to people actually speaking the bl**dy language. So the plan is, turn up when convenient for me & do whatever homework I feel like, rather than kill myself battering my stupid head on a brickwall to make progress.
