Here in Holland, when on a train, people do not move over to take a vacant seat & allow you to sit down. Instead, when you wish to sit down, they will stand up in the aisle & let you in to the free seat, then sit back down again rather than simply shuffle across.

Also, they appear to thrive on freshly baked bread. So much so, in fact that it is occasionally impossible to buy bread (of any sort) after 3pm. I noted this with particular irritation last Saturday when the bakery had sold out, the large supermarket had sold out, and the local corner-shop had also sold out, even though, in all instances, even though they each had an internal bakery & it would be a question of just putting a few more loaves in. Ok, it’s a Saturday & they're not open on Sunday (you might say), but the same thing is true during week days – shelves will be scoured free of all bread-related products by then time I get out of work, even though the shop will be open for another 4 or 5 hours…

Whats wrong with these people?

I’m not complaining, exactly, its just that it strikes me as being so utterly nonsensical that I cant buy bread on Saturday after (say) midday or am forced to have someone stand up & crush the crowd behind me, rather than simply slide across.

Ok, ok. I am complaining.
