Assumptions

Assuming that the AfD doesn't throw us out (in which case, we have a whole different set of problems), we need to move in about 2 years time. The reason for this is that the boys are going to need more space than the current house provides - so we need (at least) another 40 sq meters - though I'd by lying if I didn't want to move further away from the noisy road & flightpath. Moreover, 2 years is when M is finished at primary school - so we can't realistically move before then.

The problem is that we will also need to move further away from the grammar school (Gymnasium) - and I dont want to do that. Not only is it a good school, the boys are all settled there & have a good selection of friends who have (thus far) steered them in the right direction. There are no guarantees that this will continue, but it is certainly something I would like to not go out of my way to remove, if at all possible.

So I think that our best plan is to build a house to our own specifications. It is something that we said we want to do, so... okay. I will start investigating in this direction.  I just hope that the cost of building is something we can contemplate & this isn't some pipe dream.

Also, if the AfD does start throwing people out then having a bigger house to sell will put us in a better position.

So thats the plan then.
