Oh, f’r f**ks sake…!

I came in at about 7:30 this morning to make sure that my new process I’d designed & built worked, and worked it did. The automated monthly processing that used to take me until 10:30, was completed by 8am, so well done me.

But instead of getting thanks, I got lumbered with a whole load of other stuff to do & was criticised for not doing it; irritating, but there we go – and we’ve got IT problems on top of that.

Moreover (and more galling), I’ve just been reprimanded for not passing on information to another department about a new set of account codes that had been opened. Ok, it was my responsibility, but in my defence:
1) I didn’t set the new account codes up,
2) I didn’t know that the new account codes were being set up,
3) They were set up late in the evening the day before quarter close, after I had gone home!

Hardly, the fairest of criticism, I feel, and totally overshadowed the really smooth automated new month-end process I've done...

B*ll*cks

Hmmm. this all fits in the grand scheme of things. If you pour your heart and soul into something and do a really good job, then nobody will thank you for it, unfortunately. It's deeply unfair, I grant you that, but that's just life.

*hug*

They're all b*stards.

I do have a serious question, though: just how high is the level of resentment against you in that office? I don't know whether it's accountants, the Dutch or just the place where you work, but you do seem to encounter constant peculiar and antisocial behaviour which is targetted in part at you. Are you some sort of external threat? Are you more efficient/capable than the people already there? Do you simply break the status quo by not quite fitting into a pre-prepared pigeon-hole?

Well, it’s a combination of things. Firstly, my office is highly political, with a lot of factions, cliques, circles and secondly, my boss cultivates a ‘hard man’ image - mainly in an attempt to rise about factionalism. Sadly this means that blame for errors is allocated, pointedly.

Some of his criticism of me is, admittedly, entirely justified as it was my responsibility & this process has been an absolute f**king mess from start to finish, but I am gutted that its happened after I’ve spent so long on it, its happened at quarter end & its overshadowed my efforts to automate other processes.

Aside from that, its not especially personal – everyone gets the same low-grade antisocial treatment. What goes around, comes around & all that.

I see Sod's Law of Offices is strictly applied there.

Bastards!

When did you start working for my company? =P

That sucks. I shall send intercontinental missles in their direction. They should arrive shortly after you're finished work.
