Election fever...
Apr. 5th, 2005 03:12 pmWell, its that time again – an election has been called and people have to make up their minds, steal their neighbours voting slips and try to get your elected, by hook or by crook! (I’m just joking, kids, electoral fraud in the UK is a serious crime and people go to jail for it, very quickly. Unless your’re a Conservative local councillor & works out a scheme to sell of council houses to home owners to establish a Tory majority, or work for the Labour party in Birmingham, in which case there is a protracted legal case to deal with first…)
As you can probably tell from my intro, I’m going to be voting Lib Dem. Its not quite as cut & dried as it might be portrayed by the people who know me, but, if you’re interested, the reasons are given ( here… )
Overall, I recon we will have a Labour government, come May 6th, with a breakdown of around:
Predicted
Labour 320 - 340
Conservative 180 - 200
Liberal Democrat “about 80”
So that’s a majority of “about 50”, I recon, with increases of “about 30” for both the lib-dems & Tories (though I’m not too sure about the effect UKIP will have, tbh). Either way, I think that 50-ish is perfectly satisfactory for the next PM, whoever it might be.
