Friday – thank god
Apr. 8th, 2005 08:57 amJust a few more hours and I might be able to survive the week! So far, its been pretty positive – Carole & I got the results of our blood tests from the new GP; no unpleasant surprises for me (phew) and, moreover, Carole was told that she is no longer anaemic – but only just. The number of 25 that I quoted in my initial post was incorrect, my fault, apologies – it should be, as Zoe said, 12. C is now 12.3 – so that is only just not anaemic, but given … … um… womens troubles, shes almost certainly going to slightly anaemic again. So the upshot of it all is that Carole is going to be able to go diving again in about a months time, when shes had a further test showing that shes healthily over the line! Hooray Hooray Hooray! Good news there, I think – and a definite “I told you that the information was suspect” from me – a rating of 4 indeed, with no secondary symptoms (like passing out etc?) Hmm. Stupid fascist quack of a doctor. Thank god we’ve got a new one…
In other news, we’re in the throws of the windows being replaced at home with double-glazed ones. Yesterday was kind-of fun, as late on, the night before they turned up, Carole & I sort of looked at each other & went “arse” – the house was a tip and we didn’t have the time or energy to clear any work spaces for them to operate in. The result was that everything got piled on our bed & got subsequently covered in building dust, meaning that we spent most of yesterday running around like headless fools, cleaning the place.
Today, however, we’ve got things slightly better arranged & they’re going to be completing the main room windows, safe in the knowledge that they have space in which to work. As an unexpected plus, getting the windows done in the master bedroom highlighted the fact that we’ve still got the furniture in its moving-in format - as in: “I’m tired and want to go to sleep, so I’m going to dump this bed here & crash & that’s fine with me & I have no plans other than that. Zzzzz”. So Carole & I are going to look at rearranging the furniture (mainly in the master bedroom) this weekend, to a slightly more user friendly format as we clean up the revealed piles of dust & dirt that presumably accumulated over almost 2 years of living at number 22...
