First day back in 2006. And, as expected, all hell has broken loose – lots to do and even more to correct / prevent from going wrong. Fun, eh? But still, the damage is (at this stage) fairly superficial. All I need to do is make sure that its corrected before it becomes chaotic and terrible (lunchtime)
I am pleased to report that I met my goal of “84kg or under” at this mornings weigh-in, with me being 83kk and a smidgeon, so a job well done there, I think. The “not drinking” seems to have worked wonders, so I intend to repeat it until my birthday on the 23rd January. With any luck & quite a bit of exercise & sticking to the diet, I should be able to reach 80kg by my birthday. C decided not to do a weigh-in, cos shes still in party mode (not having any work to do & Iola & Mavis are still at our place until this evening, so its not really fair on her to be trying to diet whilst still entertaining people)
I am also heartened that the Russians decided to mark the formal start of my PBEM game by cutting off the Ukrainian (and thus European) gas supplies; it was precisely the sort of thing I wanted to start off BNW, cos that’s what its about. Psychic Psteves Predictions come true! True I tell you!
So resolutions for 2006. Not many but here they are:
1)Learn to speak & read Dutch
2)Create a social circle in Amsterdam of locals
3)Keep the weight under control
That’s about it. Not much numerically, but number (1) is going to be a world of problems in & of itself, I think!
Lastly, I need to contact banks in the UK, to move money around for the Leeds house (mortgage payments etc), I might have to come back to the UK in the fairly near future, if they demand a physical presence / signature etc for me to do this. I’ll keep you informed of my plans if I do actually have to turn up, but this is just to let you know that I’m actively considering a trip to the UK on the weekend of the 15th, should it become necessary.
