Back at it.
Feb. 3rd, 2006 12:31 pmWell, it’s a peculiar day; C’s 30th birthday, and I’m going to be going out to the pub tonight with my brother-in-law, mainly because I’ve not caught up with him for ages. This also has the other advantage of helping to oil the social wheels, as, at present, we have in the house myself, Carole, Alison, Christian (Caroles ex) & Christians mum, all of whom can understand a degree of German (2 of them being German) and Gareth, who sits there & smiles a lot. I know how he feels, the poor sod – I’ve been sat in the corner completely out of my depth in the past… But despite the fact that I’m looking forward to go out with G tonight, I am going to miss being with Carole today, especially as its her birthday.
Anyway, I am really looking forward to just generally catching up with Gareth, leaving the German speakers (or at least understanders) at home. Also, I don’t really understand why Christians mum has come over as well either – it puts a strain on the atmosphere in the house, as there’s someone who is in a totally different age range, so the usual ‘all in this together’ attitude is presently missing, but I hope that this will change when Anna & Stu turn up tonight; there should be a much better mix for people, as the conversation can be a little stilted with the present grouping.
The other thing I have to do today is buy Caroles birthday present. I had arranged with Allie & Gareth to get it & bring it over, but they couldn’t find it & every time they tried to get a message to me, Carole intercepted it and forgot to relay their coded messages to me. So ‘Ars3’ sort of sums it up - I feel a quick trip to a shop coming on. I have a plan B, but I only hope that the shop in question hasn’t sold out of them. Still, we’ll see I guess. And I’ll be less cryptic when the situation is resolved.
Aside from that, I am not going to be here late tonight – I was here until 9:45, with a 7:30am start to get some tasks sorted out (with NO FLAMING FOOD EITHER), and by all that’s holy, it was unpleasant. It looks as though they're going to try & insist on me doing the same today, but its not going to work.
Also, I had an interesting dream last night; I was standing in a passport queue to visit the ‘Peoples Republic of America’, and this man who was looking at my passport kept on telling me that it was out of date and I was arguing with him, because it was still valid (dd/mm/yy rather than mm/dd/yy as they do in the US). I suppose that its my subconscious was telling me to *get your passport sorted* along with the days random stress & the fact that I was reading about counterfactual timelines a few days ago (the ‘Drowned Baby’ timeline was interesting) - but I quite like the idea of the PRA & idly wonder where the divergence point would be…
