Well, its Monday

The weight has gone up to slightly under 85kg again, so I’m recording that as ‘85kg’ in the hopes that I might be able to get back down to 84.5 by next week. News manipulation, I know, but there we go.

The weekend, however, was good fun; Allie & Gareth being over was a great success and I’m glad to report that the party was also a pretty good bash too, with lots of neighbours who’ve lived in the same street for years finally getting to meet each other! I also had to explain what role-playing was to a rather drunken Dutch neighbour, who seemed to be totally taken aback by the idea of pretending to be someone other than yourself!

C finally got her birthday present of Shadows over Camelot & it was played several times; we finally beat the board only by removing the traitor from the game and even then we only won by a single sword – but it was fun nonetheless. A total failure on the Ticket To Ride Europe, but I am hoping that I can get hold of a copy sooner rather than later.

Today I have also managed to get my passport sorted out; they wanted to send it back to me by recorded delivery, but I pointed out that I had no other form of ID that would let me pick up a parcel, in the event that my passport was redirected to the local depot; the nightmare of having to explain to the Dutch postmaster that my passport is in that box there, and this is all the identification I have (waving a photocopy of my old passport) was not something I wanted to experience. So I have to go back in 2 weeks time to get my new 10 year passport sorted out. Hallelujah.

Right then. Lots to do. Like Dutch homework, housework, BNW spoilers to write, 2 German guests to entertain and a host of other things to do.

Well, I'm attempting my first ever Dutch homework as I write this. And am in a full-on panic within 5 minutes - its impossible.

I've got a CD to listen do and write down whether the words are spelt 'Oo' or 'oO'; at least, I think that what I'm being asked, but the book is written entirely in Dutch (there is no English text at all); as I am taking Dutch lessons, I think that you can now grasp the problem.

Also, I'm apparently going to be tested tomorrow on the grammar that I have learned. Except that I dont understand what it is I am learning. Giving me the instruction: 'Voor een handeling of situatie nu, op did moment' I feel is particularly pertinent, though writing 'Ze is heel leuk' at me on the pages repeatedly is not the most transparent way of proving me with a meaning of what 'Ze is heel leuk' means...

... I feel a trip to Babelfish coming on.
