Friday afternoon. Thank God.
Dec. 15th, 2006 12:35 pmLast night, the department held its Christmas party, on a boat wandering around the canals of Amsterdam; it started at approximately 6pm & went on to the small hours. It had a free bar, free buffet & many people decided afterwards to go on into town & dance the night away.
Except for me, of course. I had to work until 7-30pm & then get in for 7am this morning, on a day I had previously booked as a holiday. Why? Because of year-end. There is apparently no-one else who can do my job, and, whilst it is nice to be appreciated, it is monumentally irritating for them to hold the Christmas party at a point where it is almost designed to irritated me. Whats wrong with holding a party on a Friday evening fercryingoutloud?
Anyway, the tasks that had to be done, have now been done, and I’m now back on an even keel in that I have no monumentally urgent crisies that I have to get on with NOW! I have lots & lots that have to be done BY MONDAY, but that’s after the weekend. I can live with it.
In addition, I can take comfort from the fact that I don’t sport any form of hangover-chic, in that I don’t look as though I’ve slept in a hedge, or (in some cases) have a greenish hue to my skin.
