Jan. 2nd, 2007

Well, I’ve survived the end of the year – all I have to do now is survive year-end. I hope that it wont be too much trouble, but I feel especially lousy today thanks to delays at Gatwick, which saw us arrive back 6 hours later than expected, with us collapsing into bed sometime between 2 & 3am. To make matters worse, I’ve got out of the habit of getting up at 7am, and I’m an hour ahead of what I’ve become used to; as a result, I’ve got that slightly foggy headache & vague queasiness that comes with interrupted sleep. Still, its only a temporary thing & if that’s the worse that happens to me in 2007, I’m doing well. Personally, I feel sorry for C – not only is she working from home (and genuinely working, at that), but because we’ve come back so late, none of the basic house-sorting we’d planned to do was done, so shes stuck at home with no food & a stack of dirty washing. Not an ideal start to the year. I’m planning on going home at lunchtime via the shops to provide her with some supplies to take the edge off her predicament, but I’m sure she cant be having much fun.

2007’s resolutions are the same as 2006’s: buy a house, improve my language skills, keep the weight under control, improve relations with my parents, be as supportive as I can be to Carole, go out of my way to maintain, expand & improve my social life (via ‘operation get a life’). I appreciate these are not exactly a radical departure from 2006 (you will note the absence of a “lets emigrate to Patagonia!" item), but the goals I had in 2006 were perfectly good ones & the pressures on me are unchanged, despite the change in calendars, so I don’t see any reason why I cant keep the same plans.

Who knows, I might even keep some of them!
