Many thanks to everyone who made the weekend such fun – and also a big thanks & a massive “sorry that we couldn’t spend more time with you” to those people who turned up the pub, for us to promptly leave on them. I especially include Rosie, Nick, Robin, Paul & Claire in this. Many many apologies for our ‘Eat & Run” behaviour.

Aside from that, it was great catching up with people; Saturday in particular was most enjoyable as we got to go to Fuji Hiros, see Mavis’s night-club, drink far too much real beer, buy fish & chips, play daft games, buy pillows & clothes and generally let our hair down. Sunday was mainly marked with mild hangovers, packing & eating more food than was healthy for us. Though it didn’t matter in the longer term as we established that Ewan was an (unripe) banana, Mavis was an orange, Matt was an apple, Zoë a pear & I was a citrus pentafruit*; its obvious when you think about it.

The flight back was almost supernaturally smooth though I know that sufficiently advanced technology was involved to make it appear thus - obviously the badgers had obviously been wound-up extra-specially tightly to burrow through the air really quickly. The only downside of having the badgers being wound so tight was that they went through our luggage & pilfered our carton of cranberry juice; our check-in bag was open when it came around the carousel & it was missing. The furry sods.

C is now away almost all of this week, which is bad, but I’ve got a packed schedule for the next few days – tonight & tomorrow involve learning Dutch. If only the Dutch spoke their own language, then it would be in use more often… Give me German any time…

Weight 88 kilos, which is not bad, given the excesses of the weekend. I’m tempted to take a leaf out of Mavis’s book & have a month of not drinking – but the practical part of my mind says “lets start with a week, first, eh?”

*The term “Starfruit” is a derogatory & insultingly fruitist term used only by uneducated fruits.
