A late night update

Spoke with my Mum today & it turns out that Lucy's eyesight is now stable & is not deteriorating any more (which is good, if somewhat surprising, as I thought that her eyesight was on the mend as at previous report). Also the other shoe has dropped & shes resigning from her job or an assortment of reasons not least of which is because she cant do it.

I cant say that I'm best pleased about the second development - but the other ingredient is that apparently her ex- is pestering her at work (they work in the same company) and it, with the stress of her medical condition has resulted in her handing in her notice last Friday.  

Presently she has no plans as to what she wants to do - she mentioned doing some voluntary work overseas, but doubts have been raised as to her eyesight. If she cant hold down a job, then I dont think that shes going to be able to cut it in a missionary where there is real deprivation. I dont mean to be mean, but they wont exactly adhere to health & safety regulations in the bush, so I dont think that she's really thought this through.

My parents also report that they're taking a family vacation in Venice in the next few days as a combination early retirement present for my dad & also active therapy for Lucy. I hope it works, I really do - she could really do with a break. God knows shes stuck in the middle of a life changing event, but I would have thought (safe from my arm-chair vantage of the mess) that she'd want to at least keep a job.
