We had a fairly quiet Saturday - C was working, so I did some TV watching & general house cleaning, which pretty much took the morning.

In the afternoon we decided to watch one of our numerous DVD's, so we chose Perfect Blue. Now, generally I'm not one for manga - comments about how a manga film is well acted & about how there is tension between the characters generally raises my hackles, because, frankly, manga isn't acted, its drawn. Eg, Don't like the expression of the leading lady? Just rub it out & draw it differently. Dont like the leading man being a blonde? Well, turn him into an asian woman / bald black guy / animated pot-plant at the flick of a switch/push of a pen / use of an erasor. They're not acted, their drawn, constructed, whateveryou will.

However, with that rant out of the way, I still have to say that Perfect Blue was really excellent. Totally & utterly superb, with so many layers of plot & mystery that I tied myself into mental knots trying to work out what was going on. So, despite any & all quibbles about whether it was acted or constructed, I still consider it to be fantastic.

Afterwards, we happened to hear music being played in the background - apparently there was (another) free concert in Hilversum. So we went to that & watched a live performace from a Goth Rock band called After Forever who were fan-tastic, though I did feel somewhat elderly, surrounded by babygoths...

In other news, the moustache has definitely taken on a military appearance. I'll try & post a picture soon - but I'm sure that I'm going to start saying sentences like ' and the third division will launch a flanking attack from the North East'  any day now...!

Edit: And here it is!
