Monday update
Sep. 17th, 2007 01:26 pmFirstly, a very big thank-you to everyone who put up with C & myself last week. It was great seeing you all and special mentions go to Allie & Gareth, Rosie & Nick and Grampus & Doki_Chan for the provision of sleeping space. Honourable mentions also to Mavis (for both a fantastic meal & trouncing everyone in a board-game), Rosie & Nick (for last minute evening entertainment arrangements) and Ed (hung-over, but still made it to Fuji Hiros!), as well as everyone else who we caught up with. Thanks everyone, it was a blast.
Sunday saw C continue her energizer bunny impression, running around the house, getting herself sorted for the coming week, until about 6pm, where she sort of collapsed. Personally I have to say that I’m awestruck by the sheer amount of work she did in the last week at Allies, but then again, she was helping her pregnant sister sort out her house, so I can see the reasons why there was pressure on her to get it done.
The only other thing that we achieved yesterday was to agree about my cousins wedding.
We agreed not to go as its going to cost us 2 days holiday (which we don’t have) & about €1,200 for the weekend – two expenses we can well do without. So we cut to the chase and decided against it. I’m a bit sad about this as I had intended to catch up with my parents (both this last week and also at the wedding), but I’m hopefully going to the UK in early December for a dual-purpose weekend to see them & also (God willing) my nephew.
Aside from that, I’m now back in work & am on the build-up to next weeks quarter-end fun to deal with. I’m trying to motivate myself, but I don’t expect miracles given that I’ve got about 50 essential tasks to do (most of which that were essential last Monday & are now VERY ESSENTIAL), and also that my trip between work & home is now somewhat fraught given the maintenance on the Hilversum-Amsterdam route. Getting in 30 minutes late on the first day back has not set me up for an easy day!
Lastly, the weight has come down; 86 kilos, which is a loss of 2 kilos since last weigh-in (if memory serves). I put this down to the work on the house & garden that I performed on Allie & Gareths house, so, again, some good news.
Right then. I’d better get on with it.
