Gooder news
Jul. 16th, 2009 06:33 pmWe're back from todays scan and, I'm pleased to report that we have slightly better news. Of course, this is, again, couched in terms that make it all conditional - but todays scan seems to indicate that some of the most serious problems appear are now absent. Whether they have corrected themselves, been corrected by invisible space-bats or were never there at all is undecided, but this is good. Katie still has hypoplastic left heart syndrome, but the sealed foramen ovale & leaking heart valve seem to now be absent - which were the causes of the dire mood over the last week or so.
If correct, this means that there is a much better chance of Katie a) surviving & b) having a relatively normal quality & length of life - subject to surviving the prolonged surgeries that she will have to have.
I'm also aware that this is the 4th diagnosis in as many scans, so I'm also taking it with a pinch of salt.
I guess that the emotional roller-coaster continues unabated.
