Tuesday evening. A day that is marginally more successful than yesterday in that I actually managed to do some housework & stuff, but I cant shake the feeling that I'm coasting - and at year end too...
In other news C & I are going to see a house this Friday at 1pm. Its about the same size as our old place in Leeds, but its (from the photos) very much a fixer-upper in that it lacks central heating, the kitchen is effectively an empty room & the place is decorated in chic bare floorboards. I cant say that I'm madly impressed with it - but it does have some advantages going for it & its the first place we've actually been able to arrange a trip to.
Assuming that its grossly overpriced, then we could, possibly, maybe, perhaps, afford it. But only if it really is *massively* overpriced (by, say, €50,000. No, really); there is some hope on this front in that houses in Amsterdam go in minutes of being on the market & this is still available after a month, which is an indication that something is wrong. Ok, it might be the Amsterdam Yodelling, Machine Drill, Campanology & Accordion society (YMCA) next door, but I suspect not.
Also, a lot of the changes are relatively obvious & immediately rewarding; installing central heating / a new kitchen will add value to the place, no matter how finnicky the people we sell it to would be, so I cant see how (from my limited 'only having looked at the photos on the website' perspective) making the investment to get it to a habitable state would be a bad thing. Assuming, of course, that the place is even vaguely decent & is not about to fall down. I fully appreciate that this is not certain by any means...
