As you can tell, I’m back on LJ after a long absence and I’m spamming it with (essentially) posts about politics – and yet I am still on FB. Why is this?

Well, simply because I don’t like FB. Aside from its sheer invasiveness (its on the phone, it’s a messenger, you can log in to other sites using your ID etc etc etc) I detest the its superficiality, as it is mainly tailored towards images. However, I can’t really abandon FB as my parents and family are all there. I need to ensure that my family still get to see the photos of my children – but I also want some space of my own to ruminate, without wasting everyones time.

Its not ideal, and something of a bind, but I’m glad to be back on LJ – and glad that the technical problems that plagued LJ back in 2009 seem to have been resolved.

(I’ll get back to posting about politics soon, I promise)

A procession of ministers have been seen going into 10 Downing Street in the last hour or so.

Personally, I doubt that this is going to result in any fireworks in the immediate future – but I’d wager that those meeting the PM are saying "we will support your plan - but when this fails you take full public responsibility and resign"

Edit: I also don’t buy Damian Greenes argument that the “winners need to see that they have won” – because nothing will make them see or feel this way. There are a substantial number of people who feel that any Brexit deal that doesn’t involve threatening to nuke Paris in an effort to reclaim Calais will be a betrayal. As time has shown, again & again, every time we compromise to give them an inch, they come back complaining that they’ve been betrayed. These people cannot be sated – so why do we feel that they need to be pandered to.
